Board members
Professor Alex Stojcevski is an educational leader and executive with experience across three diverse continents, including Australia, Europe, and Asia.
Professor Alex Stojcevski is currently the Pro Vice-Chancellor & President of Curtin Singapore.
Prior to Curtin Singapore, Professor Stojcevski was the Dean of Science, Computing and Engineering Technologies at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne Australia. In addition, Professor Stojcevski has held senior leadership positions at RMIT University based in Vietnam, and Deakin University in Australia. Professor Stojcevski also held an invited Professor role at Aalborg University Denmark, and currently holds a Distinguished Professor position with Sanjay Ghodawat University, India. He is also an invited Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
Professor Stojcevski holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Engineering, Masters by research degree in Artificial Intelligence and Fuzzy Logic, and a Bachelor degree in Engineering. He also holds a Master degree in Educational Leadership and a Master degree in Project Based Learning (PBL) from Aalborg University in Denmark.
He holds an internationally recognised profile in Renewable Energy, Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, and STEM Education. Professor Stojcevski is in the world’s 2% top-cited scientists in the categories of “Energy”, and “Electrical and Electronics Engineering”. He has published over 450 articles and has supervised more than 30 PhD student completions.
He has very strong collaboration with a number of industries and Universities worldwide, resulting in income-generating partnerships of over AUD$90m.
Dr Arun Patil is the Director of Learning and Teaching at Curtin Singapore and an internationally recognised academic leader with extensive experience in higher education leadership, global engagement, engineering education, curriculum innovation, and quality assurance.
Dr Patil has held senior academic leadership positions internationally, including Vice-Chancellor and President of universities in India, as well as leadership appointments in Australia involving postgraduate education, academic development, and internationalisation initiatives.
Dr Jaideep Chandran is currently the Head of School of Science, Technology and Engineering at Curtin Singapore. He is an experienced academic leader with expertise in engineering education, electronics, renewable energy systems, and applied technology research.
Dr Chandran has extensive experience in higher education leadership, academic program management, curriculum development, teaching, and research supervision across engineering and technology disciplines. His academic and research interests include engineering education, artificial intelligence applications, renewable energy technologies, data analytics, and emerging engineering systems.
Dr Wahseem Soobratty is currently the Head of School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Curtin Singapore. Prior to this role, Dr Soobratty has been a senior lecturer within the Faculty of Business and Law, Perth, Western Australia, along with the Deputy Director of Learning and Teaching for the School of Accounting, Economics, and Finance.
Dr Soobratty completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting and has significant experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership across accounting and business disciplines. His professional and academic interests include accounting, auditing, corporate governance, financial management, and business education.
Nick Swallow is the Director of Studies for the English Pathway program in Curtin Singapore. He joined Curtin Singapore in 2013 as an English teacher, taking on his current responsibilities from 2016 onwards. He plays a key role in enabling international students to raise their English language skills before they take on the challenges of tertiary education. He also works closely with the teaching team to ensure courses are delivered at a consistently high level of quality.
Nick has been working in the field of English-language teaching for over 20 years. He has spent many years working together with international students in Singapore as a teacher, teacher trainer, and department head. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Manchester, UK, and a Master of Applied Linguistics from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University.
Quentin is the College Director and Principal at Curtin College in Perth, drawing on a wealth of experience from his accomplished career across Australia, Vietnam, and China. His expertise spans academic leadership, program management, and business development, which he now leverages to drive excellence at Curtin College.
He also spearheaded a major Australian Government-funded initiative focused on leadership development in Vietnam. Committed to enhancing student and staff experiences, Quentin continues to foster innovation and growth within Curtin College.
