Head of School – School of Business and Entrepreneurship
1. Overview and objectives of the role:
With direct line reporting to the Pro-Vice Chancellor (PVC) and President of Curtin Singapore, this role provides academic leadership and oversight of Curtin University’s degrees in Business and Entrepreneurship, and related courses. Key responsibilities for the Head of School include the development of industry relationships and the growth of the programs. Additionally, there is dotted line reporting to the Director and Head of Academic Services. This reporting line will cover all operational, reporting, academic services and resourcing matters including agreement and sign off financial budgets for teaching costs and related matters.
The role includes responsibility for planning trimesters/semesters, assisting to efficiently and effectively manage the delivery of teaching and learning, managing ongoing and sessional teaching staff and engaging with Curtin University academic staff on quality assurance and benchmarking. Director of Research
1. Role summary:
Reporting to the PVC and President of Curtin Singapore, the Director of Research is a leadership role within Curtin Singapore with responsibility for leading, guiding and supporting the implementation of Curtin Singapore research strategy. The Director of Research will also provide oversight and support for Curtin Singapore research training programs, research funding KPIs and development, and research performance and quality.
The Director of Research will work with functional and strategic teams in Curtin Singapore, Curtin University Australia, and the Academic Schools. The Director of Research will contribute to the development of strategies relating to research and research training across Curtin Singapore with the goal of ensuring a consistent and coordinated approach that supports Curtin Singapore and the university’s core goals for research.
2. Key responsibility areas:
Leadership
- Work with the PVC and President as part of the Curtin Singapore Leadership Team (CSLT) to contribute to the formulation, implementation and ongoing review of the strategic planning, performance and direction of Curtin Singapore in support of the research strategy.
- Provide leadership within Curtin Singapore to create and maintain a positive, productive and supportive culture in the context of the Curtin values of integrity, courage, impact, respect, and excellence.
- In consultation with the PVC and President, plan, develop and ensure the implementation of Curtin Singapore research priorities and targets.

Management
- Working with the Graduate Research team, lead and support the HDR candidature cycle from recruitment through to admissions, candidature management and submissions working to ensure that different stages are timely.
- Problem solve and proactively address issues and implement support for students to succeed in their studies.
- Lead, support, encourage and enable the development of opportunities for HDR students to gain experience external to the university including through internships and related industry programs, as well as providing proactive leadership, mentorship, and advice to develop and grow opportunities for HDR funding programs.

3. Reporting, committees, and support:
The Director of Research reports to the PVC and President of Curtin Singapore for the responsibilities of this role. Teaching and research workloads for this role are set by the relevant Head of School.
The Director of Research will be a member of the Curtin Singapore Leadership Team (CSLT) and a member of the Curtin Singapore Research Committee.
The Director of Research liaises with a broad range of stakeholders across Curtin Singapore and Curtin University. The Director of Research will be a member of relevant university committees and working groups as required and directed by the PVC and President.
An Academic Director Research Training role may be established within Curtin Singapore, reporting to the Director of Research for their areas of responsibility that align with this role.

Reporting to the Director and Head of Academic Services, the Academic Director provides strategic academic leadership and oversight for the Curtin College Diploma programs delivered at the Curtin Singapore campus.
The role is responsible for ensuring the efficient, effective, and equitable delivery of high-quality academic programs in alignment with the legislative, regulatory, and academic frameworks of both Curtin College and Curtin Singapore. Results and Assessments Manager
The Assessments Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective and efficient management of all assessment-related processes within Curtin Singapore. This role ensures that all assessments are administered accurately, securely, and in compliance with relevant policies and regulations. The Assessments Manager also ensures that results are accurately processed, recorded, and communicated to stakeholders in a timely manner.
Duties:
1. Leadership and management
- Lead, supervise, and manage the Assessment Administration Team and the Results and Assessment Team to ensure the smooth operation of assessment processes.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to enhance their effectiveness, professional development and acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the assessments and examinations, academic integrity, results and academic status and progressions, including policies, procedures, rules and regulations laid down by Navitas English, Curtin College, Curtin University and Curtin Singapore Examination Board.
- Conduct regular team meetings to monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure alignment with departmental goals.
2. Assessment administration
- Oversee the scheduling, preparation, and administration of all assessments and examinations (including deferred and further assessments) in accordance with policies and timelines.
- Responsible in ensuring timely communication and publications of all assessments and examinations (including deferred and further assessments) details and code of conduct to students, academic staff and other stakeholders.
- Responsible for the integrity of examinations and tests by strictly adhering to established Examination Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implement consistent quality control measures throughout the assessment process.
- Undertake the role of the Chief Invigilator, ensuring proper invigilation is put in place and be available for all invigilated tests and examinations scheduled, to provide advice and support to invigilators and the team.

Assessments Administration Coordinator
The Assessments Administration Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the administration of assessments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the assessment process. This role involves preparation, scheduling, student communication, invigilation management, assessment extensions, deferred and further assessments, and record-keeping of results appeals and paper reviews. Additionally, the Coordinator ensures the integrity of examinations papers, accuracy of results and adherence to policies and procedures.
Duties:
1. Assessment preparation and coordination
- Ensure that Unit Outlines are prepared and made available before the commencement of each study period.
- Verify the availability and accuracy of assessment details within Student Learning Management Systems (i.e., Blackboard, Moodle).
- Review and update marking fee schedules for the upcoming study period, ensuring accuracy and timely preparation of teaching contracts, which is managed by Scheduling Team.
- Cross-check progressive assessments schedule master list with Unit Outlines to ensure consistency (e.g., verifying deadlines such as Assignment 1 due in Week 4, Friday, 11.59pm) and work with Results and Assessments Team in obtaining necessary approval from each respective Unit Coordinator.
- Confirm that progressive assessment details are accurately posted on Blackboard or Moodle by Week 3 Friday of each study period.
- Coordinate the preparation of tests, including the checking and secured printing of examination papers, compiling attendance lists, preparing announcements and seating arrangements, creating presentation slides, and ensuring the proper setup of test venues to facilitate a smooth assessment process.
- Ensure all examination papers and stationery are adequately stocked and inventory maintained, being responsible for their strict security for storing, recording and dispatching before and after examinations.
- Ensure required test links and other submission link points are set up correctly for online assessments and examinations.
- Ensure all necessary stationery and materials, and other requirements are provided for examinations.
- Provide clear and timely communication to students regarding test and examination venue details, permitted materials, and any specific requirements for standard, deferred and supplementary assessments.
- Organise appropriate arrangements for the support of students with special examination requirements (e.g. dyslexia, disabled) in conjunction with the Director of Academic Services.
- Receive and process student’s applications for exam clashes with Scheduling Team, ensuring approval from the University or relevant body for alternative arrangement is received.
- Ensure all progressive assessment papers and examination papers are vetted for completeness according to guidelines.
- Ensure all progressive assessment papers and final examination papers are catalogued and stored in a secured area.
2. Invigilation and integrity management
- Oversee invigilator management, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and payroll processing.
- Ensure code of conduct for exams and tests are communicated to the invigilators and students to ensure academic integrity, including reporting and managing academic misconduct.
- Assist in the supervision and management of invigilators, with the support from the Manager, including recruitment and training on a rolling and continuous basis to ensure sufficient invigilators are available for deployment every study period.
- Collate and process invigilators’ timesheet, ensuring payment is processed within timeline for submission to the Accounts Department for disbursement.
- Create appropriate timetable for invigilators, ensuring each invigilator is provided with an up-to- date timetable covering the study period, whenever necessary.
- Ensure the integrity of examinations and tests by strictly adhering to established Examination Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implement consistent quality control measures throughout the assessment process.
- Manage the administration of examinations, including verifying barred students based on attendance records.
- Ensure proper archiving of examination papers and related documents post-assessment.
- Work with Scheduling Team to ensure appropriate room arrangements for all progressive assessments and examinations, ensuring proper invigilation is put in place and publicising the examination schedule to staff and students.
- Undertake the role of the Chief Invigilator and be available for all invigilated tests and examinations scheduled.
3. Assessment extensions and deferred assessments
- Track assessments submission and ensure that students with non submissions are followed up on the following working day of the assessments due date.
- Process and track assessment extension requests, ensuring compliance with policies and within approved turnaround time.
- Verify the authenticity of supporting documentation provided by students for assessment extension requests.
- Validate the assessments extension requests in the Curtin University Assessment Extension system and ensure that they are processed and reviewed by the Unit Coordinator with an outcome communicated to the students in a timely manner.
- Schedule deferred progressive assessments in collaboration with the Scheduling Team.
- Ensure that deferred progressive assessments details are communicated to students in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of deferred assessments and ensure timely communication with students.
4. Student communication and support
- Acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the assessments and examinations, academic integrity, results and academic status and progressions, including policies, procedures, rules and regulations laid down by Navitas English, Curtin College, Curtin University and Curtin Singapore Examination Board.
- Manage students’ queries related to assessments, results (including outstanding results such as GNS (Grade Not Submitted), DA (Deferred Assessments), and X (Further Assessments)) and appeals against results and academic statuses throughout the study period.
- Provide support and advice to students at Student Connect.
- Coordinate with the Results and Assessments team for paper reviews and results appeal with academic staff and unit coordinators.
- Coordinate the assessment feedback and appeal process, ensuring timely and appropriate communication with students of the outcome of appeals.

- Provide regular updates and reports to relevant stakeholders as required.
- Ensure students’ records, academic statuses and results in the Student Management System are accurate to facilitate the printing of Certificates and Transcripts of Curtin College and Navitas English.
- Check Certificates and Transcripts of Curtin College and Navitas English for completeness and facilitate the distribution of the documents to graduated students.
- Assist with the preparation of Board of Examiners reports and documents. Attend the Board of Examiners every study period.
- Prepare minutes for Board of Examiners, ensuring action items related to students’ conditions are recorded and followed up.
- Assist in planning and conducting questionnaires and surveys on assessments related matters such as pass rates and post assessment analysis. Analyse data arising from questionnaires and surveys which may be carried out from time to time and responding appropriately.

Academic Capability and Conduct Advisor
The Academic Capability and Conduct Advisor is responsible for identifying and supporting at-risk students through early intervention strategies, providing academic skills development, ensuring academic integrity, managing academic misconduct processes, and addressing general misconduct matters in accordance with policies and procedures.
Duties:
1. Early identification and intervention
- Continuously monitor students’ academic performance, attendance, and engagement to detect signs of academic or personal difficulties.
- Implement structured processes to identify at-risk students and formulate personalized ‘Pathway to Success’ plans aimed at enhancing academic progress.
- Utilise learning analytics tools and faculty referrals to accurately flag students requiring additional support.
- Proactively engage with flagged students to discuss academic progress, set goals, and address challenges effectively.
- Provide consistent tracking and tailored support to Conditional students, students reprieved from termination and those on Student Progression Agreements, ensuring their enrolment in relevant support programs offered by Curtin University or Curtin College.

Student Enrolment Advisor
The Student Enrolment Advisor is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of student enrolment processes and assisting students with their enquiries. This includes annual unit planning, course matrix management, study plan creation, student retention initiatives, enrolment status updates, and managing enrolment variations. The role ensures accurate and efficient enrolment operations in compliance with standards and relevant policies.
Duties:
1. Course planning and management
- Coordinate Annual Unit Planning and maintain the Course Matrix to ensure accurate and updated information for academic planning and delivery.
- Ensure that unit offerings are approved by the course providers in a timely manner that is appropriate for study plans updating for the following study period.
- Review study plan structures to identify changes in units, unit names, or requirements, and ensure timely updates to local regulator – SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) after approval is obtained from the Senior Manager, Academic Services.
- Assist in the new courses registration or course de-registration with local regulator – SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) after approval is obtained from the Senior Manager, Academic Services.
- Manage and plan course transitions as a result of revisions made to the courses.
- Make provision for software or program required for teaching and learning purposes to academic staff and students and on campus facilities such as Library and Computer Labs.
2. Study plan creation and maintenance
- Develop and update Study Plans for current and new students, ensuring alignment with course requirements and guidelines.
- Continuously review and adjust Study Plans to reflect approved unit availabilities, unit changes, prerequisite requirements, overall progression pathways and course transitions.
- Ensure that the updated Study Plans and any changes to units, unit availabilities, prerequisite requirements, overall progression pathways and course transitions are communicated to students and relevant stakeholders via the approved communication channels in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the Planned Student Number for each unit based on Study Plans are communicated to the Scheduling Team in a timely manner, to ensure accurate planning in number of classes.
- Provide support and advice to students requiring enrolment variations, including Leave of Absence (LOA), Course Withdrawal, Change of Major (COM), Change of Course, CRL applications and other related requests.
- Ensure that the Study Plans are updated accordingly following approval of enrolment variations requests.
3. Enrolment and registration management
- Ensure a smooth Class Registration and Enrolment process for students and that enrolment deadlines and processes are communicated to students and relevant stakeholders via the approved communication channels in a timely manner.
- Oversee and manage the Class Registration and Enrolment processes, including monitoring of students’ failed prerequisites or units and facilitating re-enrolment where necessary.
- Ensure all students’ enrolments are entered or captured in the student management systems by the last day of enrolment based on approved academic calendar and students have access to the necessary learning management systems for academic resources such as course content, unit outlines with lesson plans, and the approved online teaching platforms for online lesson delivery
- Ensure the student management systems are appropriately and correctly set up for enrolment and class registration.
- Students without enrolment are followed up in a timely manner to achieve good retention rate.
- Monitor and review class sizes during Week 1 of each study period to collaborate with the Scheduling Team on decisions regarding the opening or closing of classes. This involves communicating to students of the change in classes and updating on the student learning management system. All closing or opening of classes are completed by Week 2 of each study period.
- Ensuring appropriate teacher to student ratio based on appropriate and approved class sizes.
- Update and maintain accurate enrolment status records across student management systems to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Manage unit withdrawals, ensuring adherence to Census dates, last withdrawal dates, and relevant policies.
- Ensure proper handling and approval of enrolment variation requests, including Leave of Absence, Change of Major, Course Withdrawal, application of CRL and Change of Course.
- Provide support and assist students with academic enquiries at Student Connect, student academic advising session and orientation briefings.
- Enrolling students participating in academic support programs (e.g., English Support Program, Academic Language Enrichment Program) on the student learning management system before commencement of the programs.
- Work collaboratively with Scheduling Team in ensuring all academic scheduling are aligned to students’ study plans and enrolment and transition planning in cases of course changes, revisions or teach-out.
- Work collaboratively with Assessments Team and Academic Capability and Conduct Team for students who are Terminated for the study period and in providing support to students who are identified as at-risk and on Conditional and Reprieved from Termination statuses, making necessary adjustments to their study plans and enrolment.
4. Student progression and retention
- Manage progression students, including conducting briefing sessions and creating applications on Student One.
- Monitor student retention through proactive engagement, support mechanisms, and accurate tracking of enrolment status.
- Develop strategies to enhance retention and ensure timely intervention for at-risk students, working with the Academic Capability and Conduct Team.
5. Administration and reporting
- Provide timely reports and updates on enrolment processes, retention statistics, and course variations to relevant stakeholders.

This role ensures compliance with academic and assessments policies, coordinates examinations, manages student results and appeal records, and supports academic staff and Unit Coordinators in their duties, especially in managing marking and moderation process.
