What do I bring to an exam?
Please check the exams rules for a list of what you can and cannot bring to an exam. Your unit outline / FLECS Blackboard will also notify you if you are allowed to bring any study aids / book / notes to an exam. If you are unsure please check with your lecturer.
What if I have a clash in exams?
Students with Examination Clashes (2 or more at the same time) or 3 Examinations in one Calendar Day Students shall not be required to take more than two (2) examinations, or any other assessment activity whether centrally administered or not, on the same day. A student with two examinations scheduled on the same day will have a break between examinations.
A student with 3 or more examinations scheduled on 1 calendar day may elect to sit one of the examinations at a time prior to the official scheduled time, upon consultation and approval from their School.
If a student has an examination clash after the publication of the final timetable, a clash form (available from Reception) is to be completed by the student, authorised by the Academic department and an appropriate alternative examination arrangement will be made.
The deadline for the submission of the authorised clash form to the Academic Office is two weeks prior to the commencement of the final examination period.
What if I miss an exam?
If you miss an exam due to ill health or other extenuating circumstances please contact the Academic Manager through campus reception on the 1st floor. An Application for Deferred Assessment form must be completed and submitted to reception with a valid medical certificate within 5 working days from the formal assessment date.
Online Quizzes
Online quizzes are to be sat at the Curtin Singapore campus, using the campus computers. This way any errors or difficulties that may be encountered can be recorded and forwarded to the appropriate authority. If there is a technical error, the quiz can be re-set. Students who take the quiz from home / other computers may not be granted re-sets or alternative quizzes.
* Some quizzes allow you multiple attempts, some only one. Make sure you know before you begin!
* Some quizzes are timed. If so you will see a clock on your screen which will count down the time remaining.
Results & Supplementary / Deferred Exams
Examination results are released approximately 3 weeks after the official examination period and can be viewed via Oasis.
Supplementary examinations
Supplementary examinations may be approved by the Board of Examiners for students who have attempted all assessments in a unit but who have not received a passing grade in that unit. Students must receive a grade of 45-49% and have reached a trimester weighted average grade of 50% or over to be awarded a supplementary examination.
Check your results on OASIS to see if you have been granted a supplementary examination for any failed units. This will be denoted by an X grade on your results list.
If you pass this exam, you will receive a PX grade. If you fail, your original mark will stand.
NB *Supplementary exams are marked out of 100%. If awarded a supplementary exam, students must sit this exam at the scheduled time and will not be permitted to defer the exam under any circumstances.
Deferred exams and tests
Deferred assessments may be approved under compassionate or medical grounds and must be requested on the deferred assessment form and supported by appropriate documentation. The request must be submitted to campus reception no later than 5 working days after the original assessment date.
Students will be advised of the dates of the Supplementary and Deferred examinations at least 1 week prior to the start of the examination period. Students must not make any other arrangements during this period, which could prevent them from completing these assessments.
The % grade weight and topics for the deferred exams will be notified on FLECS-Blackboard or via your unit outline. NO deferrals of deferred exams will be granted under any circumstances.
